Caithness inspired scarves
All these scarves are designed to capture the surrounding area. Each one is carefully hand woven made from 100% pure British wool. The wool is from either Yorkshire or the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The pure wool is locally sourced from the community of Brough Caithness where possible.
Dunnet Bay Scarf
Inspired by one of our local beaches Dunnet Bay. The hues of grey, green, black and cream capture the sandy beach and dunes. Made from 55% lambs wool and 45% cotton made in Ilkley West Yorkshire.

Gorse Scarf
This scarf is inspired by the gorse that surrounds our croft in Brough. We love the bright yellow of this flower and it’s coconut-like scent. At this time of year the gorse flower is starting to appear and brings a bright and cheery sign that spring is coming.

Our first design. Blushful Earth is based in Brough and over looks the Moss of Brough. We love the autumnal/winter colours and wanted to create a scarf to using these colours. Made from 100% Shetland single ply pure wool.

Plaid Scarf
One-off lambswool plaid scarf
This scarf was by far the most complicated one I’ve made. Slight loss of concentration and pulling back to start again. But I’m so pleased with it.
Handwoven from 1ply 100% lambswool. It is super soft and extremely warm. Long enough to wrap or loop.

Puffin Scarf
This scarf is the first of our Caithness wildlife scarves. Inspired by the Puffins at Dunnet Head, Puffin Cove, and Duncansby Stacks.
This design focuses on the Puffins head. Inspired by it’s beautiful bright orange beak with hues of grey and yellow, it’s red/orange, and black eye, and it’s black and white plumage.

Blue Butterfly
Continuing with our Caithness wildlife designs. This scarf was inspired by the blue butterfly. It’s body mainly being blue and the tips of It’s wings brown/orange.
This scarf is handwoven from merino wool, and Lambswool /cotton mix. Perfect for summer nights or winter days.

John o’Groats Mill
It was so lovely to be asked to design a landscape scarf for the John O’Groats Mill Trust of the John O’Groats mill. The colours and textures of the mill are vast and I wanted to reflect this in the design of the scarf. I have therefore used a mixture of pure wools and thicknesses. Wools used include Scottish merino, Shetland, Scottish Lambswool, and a Lambswool and cotton mix.
The colours that stood out to me were the distinctive red from the windows, the white lime render, the mixed stone colours of cream and brown.
It’s a beautiful building and we are so lucky to have this building to visit and see locally.
The scarf is exclusive to the mill and therefore can only be purchased there. Sales are available from the 31st May 2025 when the mill is fully open to the public.
